Jupiter Transit in Leo 2026-2027: Effects for Every Moon Sign

Tonight, Jupiter walks into Leo. The last time this happened was 2014, and it won't happen again until 2038.

Jupiter, Guru, is the great benefic of Vedic astrology, and he changes sign only about once a year. But Leo, the royal sign ruled by the Sun, gets him just once every 12 years. Whatever Jupiter touches, he grows: knowledge, faith, money, children, opportunity and the right mentors.

What Jupiter in Leo means for all of us

Leo is ruled by the Sun, and the Sun is one of Jupiter's natural friends, so Guru is comfortable here. Expect the year to reward visibility, leadership, creativity and generosity.

• Confidence comes back. Leo is the sign of the heart and of self-expression. Expect a year where people stop hiding and start showing their work, their faces and their voices.
• Leaders and creators get the spotlight. Jupiter in the Sun's sign blesses authority, government, founders, performers and anyone willing to lead with integrity.
• Children and romance flourish. Leo is the natural 5th house of children, romance and creativity, so expect pregnancies, new love and creative projects to bloom.
• Generosity over hoarding. Jupiter in Leo rewards the big-hearted. Give, teach and mentor, and it comes back.
• The shadow is ego. Pride and showing off can inflate along with everything else. Stay humble and the blessings stick.

Jupiter starts the journey in Magha, the nakshatra of ancestors and inherited dignity. It is a good time to honour family lineage, take on responsibility gracefully and ask elders for guidance.

Jupiter leaves Cancer, his sign of exaltation, where the focus was home, family and emotional security, and steps out into the world in Leo. Here is what it means for your Moon sign, with the verified dates at the end.

How to read this for yourself

Vedic transits are read from your Moon sign (Rashi), not your Western Sun sign. If you don't know it, the free birth chart gives it to you in a few seconds. Count Leo from your Moon sign to find which house Jupiter is moving through.

Classical texts consider Jupiter's transit most supportive in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th houses from the Moon. That doesn't make the other houses "bad". It just means the gifts come with a little more effort.

Effects for each Moon sign

Aries Moon (Jupiter in your 5th). One of the best placements. Creativity, romance, studies and children are blessed. A strong year to learn, teach, start a creative project or plan a family.

Taurus Moon (Jupiter in your 4th). Home, mother, property and inner peace come into focus. Good for renovating, moving or buying a home, but guard your emotional calm when family needs pile up.

Gemini Moon (Jupiter in your 3rd). Courage, writing, short trips and siblings. Growth comes through effort and communication rather than luck, so put your work out there.

Cancer Moon (Jupiter in your 2nd). A supportive placement for income, savings, family and speech. Your words carry weight; use them kindly. Good for building savings and family harmony.

Leo Moon (Jupiter in your 1st). Guru sits on your Moon. Confidence, wisdom and recognition grow, and so can your waistline. A year to reinvent yourself, with a gentle eye on overindulgence.

Virgo Moon (Jupiter in your 12th). Expenses, travel abroad, spirituality and rest. Spend on things that matter: learning, pilgrimage, healing. A quieter, inward year that prepares you for Jupiter in your own sign in late 2027.

Libra Moon (Jupiter in your 11th). One of the most rewarding placements: gains, friendships, networks and wishes fulfilled. Say yes to communities and ask for what you want.

Scorpio Moon (Jupiter in your 10th). Career and reputation are in the spotlight. Responsibility grows; so can status if you lead with integrity. Avoid ego clashes with bosses.

Sagittarius Moon (Jupiter in your 9th). Your own planet in your house of luck. Higher learning, long journeys, teachers and faith flourish. A great year for a course, a mentor or a spiritual trip.

Capricorn Moon (Jupiter in your 8th). Transformation, joint finances, research and the hidden side of life. Handle shared money and paperwork carefully; deep study and inner work go very well.

Aquarius Moon (Jupiter in your 7th). A classic marriage and partnership transit. Relationships, business partners and contracts are favoured. Single? Many people meet someone significant under this placement, though your own birth chart and dasha decide the timing.

Pisces Moon (Jupiter in your 6th). Work, health routines and competition. You can clear debts and beat rivals with steady effort. Look after diet and digestion, and don't lend money casually.

Your dasha matters more than the transit

A transit is like the weather; your Vimshottari dasha is the season you are living through. Jupiter in a "good" house during a difficult dasha softens things, while Jupiter in a "hard" house during a strong Jupiter or Venus period can still bring wonderful results. The house Jupiter rules in your chart, and whether he aspects your natal Moon or ascendant, also changes the story.

That's why a personal reading always beats a sign-by-sign list. You can ask my AI astrologer about your own chart: your first 3 questions are free, and it reads your exact dasha and Jupiter placement, not just your Moon sign.

Frequently asked questions

When does Jupiter enter Leo in 2026?

Jupiter enters sidereal (Vedic) Leo on October 31, 2026 at about 06:32 UTC, which is about 11:30 PM Pacific on October 30 and 2:30 AM Eastern on October 31. It dips back into Cancer on January 24, 2027 and returns to Leo on June 25, 2027.

Is Jupiter in Leo good?

Jupiter is friendly with the Sun, Leo's ruler, so the transit is generally positive for leadership, creativity, children and generosity. It is especially supportive for Aries, Cancer, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius Moon signs.

Why do Vedic and Western astrology give different Jupiter dates?

Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which is currently about 24° behind the tropical zodiac used in Western astrology. So Jupiter enters Vedic Leo on a different date than Western Leo.

Jupiter enters Leo during a double retrograde: see Mercury and Venus retrograde Oct-Nov 2026 for the dates, and Ahoi Ashtami 2026 for the mothers' fast two days after Jupiter moves.
