Rahu and Ketu Transit 2026-2028: Dates and Effects for Every Moon Sign

By Miss Astroglow ยท October 18, 2026 ยท 5 min read

Rahu and Ketu, the two shadow planets, are the karmic axis of the Vedic chart. They are not physical bodies but the points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's path, the places where eclipses happen. Rahu pulls you toward hunger, ambition and the unfamiliar; Ketu loosens your grip on what you already know, bringing detachment, insight and sometimes loss.

The nodes always move backward through the zodiac and spend about 18 months in each sign. Since May 2025 Rahu has been in Aquarius and Ketu in Leo. In early December 2026 they change signs together, and the whole tone of the next year and a half shifts with them.

All dates below were computed with the NASA JPL DE421 ephemeris setup behind our free Vedic birth chart, in the sidereal zodiac with Lahiri ayanamsa, using the mean node that most Indian panchangs follow. The "true" node wobbles a little, so some calendars list dates a few days apart. Times are in UTC.

What Rahu in Capricorn and Ketu in Cancer mean in general

Rahu in Capricorn sits in the sign of Saturn, a planet Rahu gets along with. Rahu here is ambitious, practical and status-hungry: careers, institutions, government, property and long-term structures attract a lot of energy. It favours hard work done cleverly, and it punishes shortcuts that cut corners on rules.

Ketu in Cancer sits in the Moon's sign, the sign of home, mother, emotional security and roots. Ketu here can make people feel restless at home, distant from family patterns, or drawn to inner work, meditation and healing old emotional wounds. It is a time to let go of comfort that no longer helps you grow.

Together the axis runs from home and feelings (Cancer) to career and public life (Capricorn). For the next 18 months many people will feel a pull between ambition and family, and the lesson is to build something lasting without abandoning the people and peace that hold you up.

Effects for each Moon sign

Count from your Moon sign (rashi). Traditionally Rahu gives its best results in the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th houses from the Moon, and Ketu does well in the 3rd, 6th and 11th.

Aries Moon (Rahu 10th, Ketu 4th). A strong career transit. Promotions, visibility and bold professional moves are supported. The cost is time at home: watch your mother's health and your own peace of mind.

Taurus Moon (Rahu 9th, Ketu 3rd). Long journeys, higher studies, foreign connections and new beliefs attract you. Question a guru before you follow one. Ketu in the 3rd gives quiet courage.

Gemini Moon (Rahu 8th, Ketu 2nd). A deep, transformative period. Research, joint finances, insurance and inheritance come up. Be careful with speech, diet and family money, and avoid risky investments.

Cancer Moon (Rahu 7th, Ketu 1st). The axis falls across your Moon. Partnerships, marriage and contracts get intense, sometimes unconventional. Ketu on your Moon can bring self-doubt or a spiritual turn. Rest, routine and honest talks help.

Leo Moon (Rahu 6th, Ketu 12th). One of the best placements. You can beat competitors, clear debts and win at work through effort. Ketu in the 12th supports meditation, retreats and travel abroad. Watch sleep and spending.

Virgo Moon (Rahu 5th, Ketu 11th). Creativity, romance, speculation and children are highlighted. Avoid gambling on hunches. Ketu in the 11th can quietly bring gains, though some friendships may fade.

Libra Moon (Rahu 4th, Ketu 10th). Home, property, vehicles and your mother take focus; a move or renovation is common. Ketu in the 10th can make you question your career path. Don't quit in a rush.

Scorpio Moon (Rahu 3rd, Ketu 9th). Excellent for courage, marketing, writing, media and short trips. Push your own work forward. Ketu in the 9th may make you rethink beliefs or teachers.

Sagittarius Moon (Rahu 2nd, Ketu 8th). Money, family and speech are activated. Income can grow through new or foreign sources, but keep your words gentle and avoid family disputes. Ketu in the 8th supports research and occult study.

Capricorn Moon (Rahu 1st, Ketu 7th). Rahu on your Moon magnifies ambition, image and restlessness. Reinvention is likely. Ketu in the 7th can create distance in a partnership; give it attention rather than taking it for granted.

Aquarius Moon (Rahu 12th, Ketu 6th). Rahu leaves your sign, which many Aquarius Moons feel as relief. Foreign travel, expenses and spiritual practice grow. Ketu in the 6th helps you overcome illness and rivals.

Pisces Moon (Rahu 11th, Ketu 5th). A classic gains placement: income, networks, big goals and wishes fulfilled. Ketu in the 5th asks you to be patient with children, romance and studies.

Your own chart decides the story

Nodal transits are powerful, but they act through your birth chart. The sign and house Rahu and Ketu occupy at birth, whether you are running a Rahu or Ketu dasha or antardasha, and any natal planets the transiting nodes cross matter far more than a sign-by-sign list. People in Rahu mahadasha often feel a node change much more strongly; read our guide to Rahu mahadasha if that is you.

Rahu enters sidereal (Vedic) Capricorn on December 5, 2026 at about 19:00 UTC by the mean node, and Ketu enters Cancer at the same moment. They stay there until June 23, 2028.

Is Rahu in Capricorn good?
